I woke up to go to work this morning to find my server shut itself off. Due to some outstanding problems that I hadn't fixed yet, I didn't have the time to bring it back online until I got home. Alright, that's an annoyance, but my users will understand. Fast forward to me pulling in my garage. I try to open up the door to get into my house; it's locked. I, being the awesome person that I am, don't normally carry my house keys when I go to work and today was no exception.
My dog (at the time) hadn't eaten in 10 hours. My neighbors, who have a spare key (and happen to be my aunt and uncle), aren't home. Alright, I'll go to my grandparent's house which is about three miles away and wait for my neighbors to get the note I left in their mailbox.
Time goes by and I realize that I'm missing the matches I promised I'd be at to referee. Ugh. I'm missing my duties, my server is offline, and worst of all, my poor dog hasn't been fed in (now) 12 hours. I don't have my neighbor's phone number, so I can't call them. After thinking for a little bit, I decide to call my parents. Another phone call later, I hear that my neighbors have been home for two hours and will have the spare key ready. Thank goodness.
I rush home, grab the key, and unlock my house. My dog is let out and fed (after much apologizing). I prepare my server and actually manage to fix the nagging problems with it. I was at the last tournament match for the day. Overall, things didn't end up too bad. I managed to get a nice dinner with my grandparents, I fixed some server issues, and I at least made it to one match today.
I'm still apologizing to my dog though.
