Rambling Thoughts Of girls and gaming
[warning] a lot of people might get frustrated or angered by what they will read down here. if you do, get a drink take a breath and think if this is really angering cause i am writing **** or because it is true what im saying and you can find yourself in the kind of people i describe [/warning]
My dear readers..
I wanted to rant about this for a long time. I even blogged about it, wrote one for an hour and then lost it all when I was posting it.. Mainly because it took me so long to write it that the website forgot I was logged in. Still the frustration didnt go away but even got worse over the weeks.. So I am going to do my second attempt on writing about girls and gaming. Also trying to explain a bit how girls work (for all you guys out there, take a notebook and start writing hints and tips for yourself). This is how I work, this is how most girls work and, ofcourse, everyone has her own degrees in this..
First of all.. Let me tell you a bit about how a girl community works. I can explain this quite easily with a real life example I come across every day.
As most of you know, I teach biology to children between 12-16 years old. This year I started at a new school where Im teaching all the pupils between 14-16. If you live in the Netherlands, I have the VMBO Basis and Kader classes. Halve of them will do exams this year, and the other halve next year. I am helping them to prepare for their exams..
The classes I have are mainly girls. Out of 15 students, one of them is a guy. Last year I had a class with only male students in them. Let me describe how the guys and girls react on stuff that happends..
First the guy class. They are having an argument.. The argument cant be solve by easy talking. One hits the other in the face, the other hits back.. A fight happends. One wins, the other buys the other one a beer.. End of story.. No old wounds are being opened.. That is how guys easily work.. (ofcourse i know it doesnt count for every guy... but im just generalising for a few mins)
The girl class. (And this is what happened in the last 3 days). There are some troubles between some girls.. Appearantly this started last year already.. I didnt work at that school yet so I have no idea what is going on.. There is no fighting but.. When you try to ask what is happening or how to solve it.. It kind of sounds like this.
"Zoey is talking behind our backs that I am looking like a boy. if she thinks that she can tell it right in my face. She doesnt have to be friends with me if she doesnt want."
"No I didnt say that.. I told Chloe that you just wear a lot of sportsuits.. She told Inge and then Inge said that she thought it could look boyish. So I told stephanie that and apearantly she told you that I said that you look like a boy"
"But Zoey last year you BLA BLA BLA BLA BlA BLA BLA BLA BLA BLA BLA BLA BLA BLA!!!!!!!!!!!!"
The girls use everything they know, talk behind their backs and everything that happened, even if they look a bit different to someone, is getting taken into the extreme..
I call this Girl-Venom.. As a girl you need to watch out constantly for this Girl-Venom. In a big community with girls this is something you need to watch out for. But only as girls..
As a biologist I can kind of explain why girls are like that among each other..
The only biological reason to reproduce (so get kids) is to spread your genes among humanity. The more kids you have, the more of your genes will be circling around in this world, and the bigger the chances are that your genes will survive over all the generations of humans.
To make sure that you have your genes secured a woman would choose an alpha (read strong) man. He would be able to catch food, protect your children and also probably have the best genes so your kids will have a good combination to survive over the generations.
We are living in a completely different world now.. That is true.. But still somewhere in the genes this fact is saved and it comes out in different ways now.
With the guys that fight they show they are supperior, or stronger then the other one. That they have more power. When that is settled it is fine..
The girls always need to make each other look bad. If you look bad to the outside world, the guys will find you less atractive and there will be more picks for the girls that look good.
On the other hand.. There is another thing for girls that is the complete opposite of this. Girls also need each other. Our brains work different then the brains of a guy do and we need to have someone to talk to. That we can relate too. We need to talk about feelings, get understanding from it and also we get crazy because of our hormones once a month.. (And yes I know this is one of the things that every girl differs in.. Stil.. this is just a general blog.. )
So within a girl community there is always this hate but also love for each other. I love chatting to them.. But the only time when the girls of starcraft community is really busy is when something is going on.. Most of the juicy gossips are spread around in there and everyones opinion about them is being given. But we are proud of each other when someone gets an achievement. If it is a real life one.. Or a general thing every girl is proud of (Go slayers eve!!!!!)
So relating everything I said to the gaming community now and girls..
We get a lot of attention. And to be honest, there is nothing wrong with that. I find it amusing to see how people react on you differently when they figure out you are a girl and how much things they offer you in game.
Seeking attention a bit isnt bad at all.. If Im streaming and someone comes on my stream and tells me I look beautiful.. I would be very honored by that. Of course everyone likes the attention.. And if you tell me you dont like it when people give you a compliment, please leave my blog and anook now, because that is a straight out lie. I give compliments a lot when I feel that someone deserved them.. And there hasnt been one guy at all who said "Ure are such a beeatch for giving me a compliment". You might not be seeking them, but you love it when you get it. And maybe the compliments you get when you are not looking for them or expecting them are the best compliments a person can give you.
So to be honest, yes give me attention.. I love it.. But... I am not an attention seeker.. And this is where my frustration kicks in..
There are lots of girls on the internet streaming. But there are only a few that I feel like they are contributing to the gamers community we girls want to be proud of. I just can not get any bit of respect to the girls who stream with very low cut tops, almost nothing on.. and the occasionally "giggle giggle giggle.. ohh im so bad.. sucks on a lollipop like a pornstar Are you getting what im saying here?
If you want to be a nerd.... If you want to be a gamer girl.. If you want to be respected by the people.. Dont do this please.. Dont go into the girls chat and say.. "Ohh guys are only looking at my boobs..." OFCOURSE they look at them! Hell i even cant get my eyes off of them if they are hanging HALF OUT of your tshirt. You will get TONS of attention yet.. but please.. dont expect a lot of respect. Cause dressing like a whore doesnt give you respect.
Yes, I have a few girls in the back of my head when Im writing this. And no I am not going to write their names down.. Cause as a girl community and Venom work.. Even though the people I have in the back of my head dont know me well.. If i place their names in this blog.. the girl gossips and venom will spread it and in the end it will turn against myself and I will be the one who did it.. And be the one who will be frowned up on.. (And no it will not be solved with a hit in their faces..)
The thing is.. There are a lot of girls who think the same like me, but dont tell this. Cause those who use their boobs are often the "popular" girls in the community, and being a part of that community you need to be respected by the girls that are popular. Else the venom kicks in and you will be part of the lowest of the lowest girls.. There is one difference though... Dont suck up with them please.. Dont pretend you like them and then go behind the back of the other person to talk dirt.. If you dont like someone, you can still treat them as a normal human being..
Also, and this might be said and I might be hated for it, but it is true.... There are a few popular girls who actually dont play on their own accounts and get into the high mastery levels.. Like Veralynn has shown.. You can keep up with a scam for a long time, but in the end you will not get through with this..
I want to make two final statements before I end my rant..
First of all, I do have a lot of respect for every real gaming girl. If you are good, or bad.. As long as your heart is true and purely into gaming and not in getting the attention cause you are pretty and have big boobs.. You deserve that respect, no matter if you are bronze or high masters.. You will be respected for that, and those who dont are people that dont deserve to be around you..
The second statement and last... If you read this blog as a girl.. And you are angered about this.. Calm down for a second and think about this.. Are you angry because you disagree with me on everything? Or are you disagreeing with me because you think you are one of these girls I have in the back of my head. Because you can find yourself in the attention seeking description and you wonder where I have the guts to tell you what to do or what not..
If you disagree with me on the first thing because of legit reasons.. That is fine.. You dont know me, I dont know you and like I said, I will respect you as a humanbeing..
If you do because of the second thing I wrote down, that you can find yourself in that description.. Maybe you shouldnt be angry at me, but take a look at yourself first and wonder.. Maybe I am like that and maybe this blog is indeed about me...
