moop. I'm sorry D: well its less than a month away for free to play. i think there is a way to get it for cheap now
riftgame.com/en/promo/freetoplay.php Listed here. You get the same thing as if you had a sub from before, kinda like Tera did it.
Hmm so basically it's not much of a benefit other than extra character and bag slots unless you're actually subscribed? Maybe I'm just having a dumb moment right now but part of the way worded it is a bit confusing. Meh the only reason I'd get storm legion is to try the new souls but I haven't even played much of the game to decide if I'd even like it or not anyhow. I'm sure they'll have the option to buy it after it's F2P right? I'll just wait and see how I like it as I get further along. I'd rather not waste $50 if I didn't. Too bad I missed out on the raptr promo. Oh well haha.
Literally can't setlle on MMO's these days the last ones I played for a substantial amount of time were WoW and the original GW. Rift is next on my list to try and fill the hole.
So I hear RIFT is going F2P! I might have to pick it back up when it does. ;)
^ Yeah what he said. They're not going to make it a continual of EQ though, it's going to be a whole new game entirely also.
I think there are so many MMOs out there now that it's hard to stay dedicated to them. Not only that but it seems each is lacking a little something to keep people in it if that makes sense. I always have and always will be a casual player so I don't really mind lol. But yeah when it comes to who has a good "hardcore" community WoW is at the top imo. It's hard to play WoW casually and not get bored with it. Well for me it is anyhow lol.
The west is getting a taste of the east in terms of their MMO market which has been F2P for a while, but extremely profitable. I've tried my share of asian F2P MMOs and I gotta say that the quality and polish of Neverwinter blows them out of the water. Fortunately, or unfortunately, when a company does something like that the competition has to respond with a product that is as good, or better, so we will keep getting plenty of highly polished and well thought out F2P and B2P MMOs in the future.
