The next fameLY tournament will be hosted on the 18th of May 2013 at 4pm CET. This time teams from all over Europe, Horde and Alliance, can sign up for the tournament.

Stream Link: twitch.tv/tashyra

Schedule:
Starts at 4pm CET on Saturday, 18th of May

Each match is a best of three until the finals, which will be played as best of five.

Scale
Eight teams will be participating. We decided this is a good number as the games can be played on one day. We prefer more tournaments to larger ones.

Contact
You can contact Toxicas (saturnia-julie@web.de) or Hildegard (Private Message).

Prices
We try out a new way of financing the tournament and the prices. We decided to put a paypal account so you can donate to this tournament. We will use the money for server transfers of two Horde characters to EU-Aegwynn in order to be able to host Horde vs. Horde and Horde vs. Alliance matches and any money after that will split into 70% for price money and 30% for the organization of the tournament.
Additionally we talk to sponsors for cash and material prices. The idea is to make a crowd-funded tournament and we have no idea, yet, if and how much money we will get, so we cannot announce any cash prices, yet.

**Become a fameLY tournament benefactor **
We don't know if the community likes this approach to crowd-fund a tournament but we will give it a try. Let us know what you think about it.
If you want to become a benefactor your name will be shown multiple times during the tournament on stream. If you have special wishes on how you want to be presented - please contact saturnia-julie@web.de to discuss it.
To donate - click on this link. All donations will be made public and transparent unless the donator asks us to stay anonymous. You can also donate gold or material prices if you like. Contact Toxicas for any questions.

Commentators
Commentators will be Hotted, AJ moderator Paws and Hildegard. The commentating will be in English. Tashira will stream the tournament. The videos will be uploaded to YouTube.

Teams
We are currently looking for teams to participate. Write an e-mail to saturnia-julie@web.de if you are interested to participate. Include your BattleTag, your and your team members armory links, the name of the team leader and your Skype ID.

Rules

  • All games are played on live realms.
  • Only PvP gear may be used at any time during the tournament. Players using PvE gear despite the rules receive one warning and are disqualified the second time along with their team.
  • Any setup with one healer is allowed.
  • A maximum of three players per team is allowed.
  • Teams may play two setups during the tournament if both setups have been announced latest 48 hours prior to the start of the tournament.
  • The losing team of each match will be able to choose a map that has not already been played. Nagrand Arena will always be played first.
  • All matches except the finals are played as best of 3
  • The finals are played as best of 5
  • Each draw rewards one point for each team.
  • If both teams have 2 (3 in the finals) points a duel inside the arena will decide the match. Each team chooses one DPS class to fight the duel. All group buffs from other classes must be removed.
  • 45 second disconnect rule: If a player disconnects after 45 second mark the game will not be replayed.
  • DDOS protection is the responsibilty of each player and multiple DDOS attacks on a player may lead for his team to be disqualified.
  • Read the DDOS protection guide and make sure your IP address is changed.

Plans
For future tournaments we want to host qualifier tournaments on selected servers.

Video
The matches will be uploaded to the newly created fameLY YouTube channel.

As I am no Excel or math hero I have a lot of questions and hope that you might help me answer some of them to save me time.

Will update this thread regulary with questions.

1.) Proc mechanics

  • I assume that the Insignia of Conquest proc trinkets, Touch of the Grave (Undead Racial) and the tailoring perk Swordguard Embroidery use a PPM mechanic.
  • I need the actual proc chances for the trinkets.
  • Swordguard Embroidery seems to have a 15% proc chance. Can someone confirm?
  • Can both proc of any damaging effects, including poisons, dot ticks, offhand ticks?
  • How does the actual PPM formula look like?
  • Dancing Steel uses RPPM and has a chance of 2. So the formula should be:
  • 2(ppm) * 1.(Haste percentage) * 1.4(time since last chance) / 60 (sec per min) = X chance on hit

2.) Racials

  • wowhead lists Touch of the Grave as physical but the tooltip says it's Shadow. So I assume it's dependant on spell hit and uses a PPM mechanic.

During our work on the Rogue Guide on Arena Junkies Vishas and me analyze pretty much every skill in the rogue arsenal. My part is to look into the new Smoke Bomb mechanic. First let’s have a look at the skill:

Smoke Bomb: Creates a cloud of thick smoke in an 8 yard radius around the Rogue for 5 sec. Enemies are unable to target into or out of the smoke cloud. Allies take 20% less damage while within the cloud.

Smoke Bomb is to kill!

You might say that, yes. But let’s assume something goes wrong. Smoke may become a handy life-saver. You already see good rogues using Smoke Bomb defensively. With the added 20% damage reduction Smoke Bomb not only stops ranged casts and heals coming into the drop location but also works like a bit weaker Power Word: Barrier. The priest skill lowers incoming damage by 20% while the rogue skill Smoke Bomb does 20% and stops incoming attacks and heals.

Defensive Smoke Bomb is situational for arena, not for RBGs however.

I agree that Smoke Bomb should only be used defensively in arena if no other options are present. Good rogues however will always use their tools to their potential. In RBGs however during the huge zerg fests the Smoke Bomb will make a huge difference. Smoke Bomb counters the Solar Beam, Ursol’s Vortex, Mass Grip and Ring of Frost combination. Casters can’t shoot in, everyone of your team mates gripped in takes 20% less damage and rogues can fire the Smoke Bomb while silenced. It’s a bit ironic that rogues have one of the best defensive cooldowns in RBGs. But make no mistake – Smoke Bomb is still the best way to land a kill on the enemy flag carrier.

Smoke Bomb – turing defense into offense

During a kill situation with the rogue being on low health the Smoke Bomb can act both offensively as well as defensively. You go in for the kill with 30% of your life bar. Now you take 20% less damage, with Feint another 30% is multiplied to it you only take 64% of the damage. Add the 70% resilience in S13 gear to it and you only take around 38% of the damage. Which means your effective health is 265% of the life bar shown. So if you have 120k life starting the attack, you actually have 318k. Without the Smoke Bomb you would have 265k. So chances are you will not only survive the attack and use the Smoke Bomb defensively but also can land the kill.

Glyph of Smoke Bomb - flag tap in RBGs

With the Glyph of Smoke Bomb (increases duration by 2 seconds) you can do a full tap on enemy nodes without the Smoke Bomb running out. This is due to server lag, the Smoke Bomb effect lands later than it should. Which means that if ranged classes are covering the flag and don't run in - you will get the tap. As soon as more rogues use this method it will probably stop to work, but for now you can do fun things with it.

Smoke Bomb Delay

The Smoke Bomb has a delay, as I explained in my video analysis video. The effect starts about one second after pressing the button. Which means that the enemy team will see the Smoke Bomb landing the moment you land your next skill.

Smoke Bomb – additional information

  • Smoke Bomb does not break stealth. Neither the rogue using it breaks out of stealth nor enemies being affected by Smoke Bomb are broken out.
  • Smoke Bomb is on the global cooldown and you need to plan your skill chains accordingly.
  • I will collect material and add showcases of Smoke Bomb usage to a small video.

Recently I came across a video about the spectator mode of the game Firefall. While I have pretty much no idea what the game is about or what other features it has - the spectator mode looks amazing. This is what I would love to see for WoW in the future. Not much more to say, have a look.

I really hope that the WoW devs keep up their history of implementing succesful features from other games.

Thanks to Zwacky for the link.

Shuirken Toss nerfed on PTR. Don't like this change. As written before - the two other talents increase rogue burst damage and we already have enough of that. Nerfing the one choice that does not strengthen the burst directly is a bad decision in my opinion.

Patch 5.2 Rogue Feedback
Due to a miscommunication, I included some incorrect information in my opening post in this thread, Shuriken Toss shouldn't be proccing non-lethal poisons like Crippling or Paralytic. It will continue to activate damaging poisons.

Can you clarify if you mean Shuriken Toss the actual ability or are you just talking about the auto-attack?
The active ability and its auto-attack component will behave the same way.

Is the auto attack portion really set in stone? I rather keep Shuriken toss the way it is, and still allowing those poisons to proc without giving them some ridiculous ranged attack with nearly full uptime.
Nothing is set in stone, per se, but Shuriken Toss hasn't proven to be very popular in its current live incarnation.

Today Blizzard published a blog about the 5.2 gear changes for PvP.

  • Rating requirements will be removed from PvP gear.

  • Malevolent Gladiator’s gear, including weapons, will be available for purchase with Honor Points.

  • A new tier of Conquest Point gear will be added that becomes available once 27000 Conquest Points have been earned for the season.

  • Team Rating will gradually increase during the season for teams and players that continue to compete in PvP.

This equals the playing field and removes a lot of the current boosting business. It will also make gearing alts a lot easier. Great change and I'm happy about it.
