I'd like to toss a few thoughts out for those still on the fence on if they want to spend their pretty pennies on Sim City.
I don't know what it was like upon the wee hours of launch. My guess like any game.. it may of had some issues. Now I don't know what the issues were and why so many people were angry. However, I personally understand that sometimes a game launches and it isn't all magical unicorns and rainbows. I also understand that people are mad because they can't play offline. I can see your frustration.. but this doesn't bother me. I am a girl of many games. If the game is down i'll play something else.
I installed the game around 8 PM CST last night. Patched. Was in-game playing after 20 minutes of downloading/patching. I had zero issues picking a server and starting a city. I even created a division and other random people joined me and made cities in my division.
Last night I had more fun with a game then I have had in quite a long time. I told my husband I would come upstairs to hang out and watch TV after I created my city.. that didn't happen. I finally pulled myself off of the game about 40 minutes later.
I couldn't sleep because all I could think about was Sim City and when I finally did sleep I dreamed I was playing Sim City to the vividness of even remember having conversations in chat with other people. None of this happened though. Damn dreams.
Woke up around 5 AM.. made some pancakes and got back to the game.
As for complaints there is a small one. It doesn't overly bother me and maybe part of it is because I am very special at straight lines. But I had some funky roads going on.. weird angles and such. I would like to think it was horrible road planning and terrain issues. But maybe it's something that can eventually be fixed in the game.
I would recommend this to people as I enjoy it.
I think people are overreacting because it's EA and everyone hates EA and it's the cool thing to do.
