Just for everyones knowledge although I am a part of TSG I do not know the answer to this riddle and will be competing not for the game but instead for boasting and I told you so reasons... although the clue is very broad I am putting my eggs in the Kael'thas Sunstrider basket until a clue dictates different.

I still think Arthas Menethil, He was leader of people, "you" meaning me the player, which is how I read it, killed him, we didn't kill Cairne, so it can't be him.
