It was just under a month ago when I announced I was heading up to Seattle for the Heroes of the Dorm finals, and this weekend that’s exactly what I did. Those of you who have followed me for some time know this isn’t something I’m usually particularly interested in; I’ve only ever written about eSports in the past in the context of MMOs making crappy ones. Still, everything is better live, so I wanted to see what the eSports scene was all about.
I went, I saw, and I had a really good time. I even had a blast on day two, when I restrained myself from abusing the media lounge’s open bar as I’d done the night before. If you’re at all interested in what a live eSports event is like from the perspective of someone new to the scene, read on for my impressions of the 2016 Heroes of the Dorm live experience and a look at everything Blizzard did to make sure the crowd went wild.
