AggroChat #117 - Death to Garrisons

Belghast, Grace, Neph, Tam and Thalen lack topic ideas… but then record a lengthy show on WoW, FFXIV, Pokemon and other stuff.

This week we are down both Ashgar and Kodra, and in part as a result… and part because we just adore her we talked our friend Neph into joining us. Before we start recording a podcast we generally try and scribble down a rough list of topics to use as an outline of where to leave the conversation next. After fifteen minutes of dead air… we finally start coming up with a few things and this weeks show is a result. We talk about the concept of “Peak Pokemon” and the glee that the media seems to have at heralding the downfall of the game. With Grace on my side we revisit the discussion about the Legion class changes, and our happiness to completely bury the concept of the Garrison and get out into the world and see it again. We do a deeper dive into the deepest dungeon in Final Fantasy XIV and Tam and Neph’s experiences leveling alts this week there. We talk a little bit about Dragon Age Inquisition, and my discovery of how Damage over Time classes work. So for a show where we didn’t think we had much to say… we certainly said a whole lot of it.

AggroChat #96 - Good Grind Bad Grind

Tonight Ashgar, Belghast, Grace, Kodra, and Tam talk games that are particularly good at grinding... and those that aren't at all

Tonight we welcome back Grace to the fold as she has returned safely from her trips out into the hinterlands. Additionally it was a little close but we actually got Tam this week who finished his Infinity Tournament in crazy record time. As a result we talk a little bit about the new Infinity Tournament scoring system and his experiences. Then we delve into a length discussion about crafting systems.... but more importantly the way Warframe seems to make a mad amount of grinding seem completely reasonable. Then I finally manage to understand why people are so enthralled with Dragon Age Inquisition.... because I absolutely hit my click point. We also get into a long discussion about when grinds feel bad, talking about Limited Time Chase items in MMOs that stop dropping after a period of time. Finally we get into a discussion about Sleeping Dogs as Tam revisits it on his backlog list.

AggroChat #70 - Calibrating "Main Gun"

This week we are joined by Ashgar, Belghast, Grace, Tam and Thalen, with Kodra having to deal with some family stuff. I was not certain how much we would have to talk about, but like always we managed to fill a show full of all sorts of games that we had been playing. Thalen starts it off talking about his further adventures into the Magic Duels free to play game. Similarly with the launch of Fallout Shelter for android he has started playing that as well. Finally he talks about the recent Fantastic Four event in Marvel Heroes and how The Thing is the tankiest of tanks. Tam spent the day at an Infinity Tournament and talks about just how awesome the Seattle minature gaming scene has been.

Grace talks about her recent swap to spending most of her time in Wildstar and the excitement surrounding the impending free to play drop that is now on the public test server. Additionally she talks about her recent foray into the PVP system, and how generally cool the community seems to be surrounding it. While board games are normally the territory of Kodra, Grace mentions the Exploding Kittens card game and how much fun she has had with it since receiving it. Ashgar has followed in Tam’s footsteps and talks about his experiences playing Sword Art Online Hollow Fragment. Ash has also started on a brand new playthrough of Mass Effect with the intent of carrying one save game from one all the way through three. This of course spawns a conversation where we talk about our experiences with the Mass Effect series.

Finally I talk about my recent return to Rift, and my obsessions with Hellgate London. Additionally we talk about next weeks show, where we plan on talking about the storyline of the Final Fantasy XIV Heavensward expansion. We have purposefully kept discussion of plot points to a minimum, but we feel it is generally safe enough to start talking about where we think the game is going. We are announcing this ahead of time for the purpose of letting our listeners and readers join in the fun. Do you have any interesting theories or are there parts of the story that you didn’t quite grasp? We are taking in questions via email for this coming show, and we will go over them on the air. I should be a lot of fun and it is our first real attempt to do something like this.

Episode 26 - Gospel of Galaxy Trucker

Tonight myself, Rae, Tam and Kodra talk about all manner of things. Tam finds a hidden jar of Nutella, Kodra delivers a sermon on the benefits of Galaxy Trucker, Rae gushes about her new Dinosaur Hunter... and I try and keep things going along smoothly in the process. We have a long ramble about Dragon Age again, this time talking about Kodra's struggle to get into the story. He has finally "gotten off the citadel" to borrow a phrase from Mass Effect 1. We also talk about how each of us approaches the characters we play in creating a personal story behind them. We talk about my struggles with Destiny this week and finally hitting the point where I am starting to feel it is entirely too grindly. Finally we talk about what Blizzard might be announcing at Blizzcon, and we go off on a speculative tour about what genres we think they might do reviving and polishing to a shine. It was a rather packed podcast and we realistically could have probably gone on for another hour and a half.

Episode 25 - Revenge of Dragon Age

Tonight we help launch TGEN or The Gaming and Entertainment Network as we join this awesome new podcast network. Check out for further information. A curious thing happened this week, all of us apart from Kodra decided to start playing Dragon Age: Origins again in anticipation of Dragon Age: Inquisition launching halfway through next month. It was as though we all realized we didn't have a clean save game file to import into that game. So there is much talking about how amazing that game really is and our experiences, as well as talking about some of the roadblocks it sets in front of players... and specifically why Kodra stopped playing the first time. Additionally we talk about our experiences downing Garuda Extreme mode and the odd compartmentalization of Final Fantasy XIV. Additionally several other games get mentioned in the mix like Crypt of the Necrodancer, so take a listen and join us as we ramble our way through another episode.
