[TESO Talk] My experience with healing

A lot of future ESO players are wondering how healing is working, and what build to choose. So I wanted to make this video hoping it would help some players. Following the Video, you can read my personal experience as I tried different healing concept builds along various beta test.
Hope this will be usefull for you, guys!

I've always been healer in every game I've played. It's the role I enjoy the most, honnestly, because it make me feel usefull, needed and important. It's also the role I perform the best. I'm generaly a pretty decent healer. My ego really like that!
In each new game I try, the first informations concerning classes or combat I'm looking for is how the healing is working. What class heal? Is it fun? Is it dynamic? Do I have choices? What sort of healers will I be able to play? Preventive healing? Group heal? Tank heal? Heal over time?
While I've enjoyed the whole filling up the life bars mini game in World of Warcraft and other games in the same trent, action healing is certainly one of the most exciting experience I ever had in a game. Tera Online healing for instance, was absolutely enjoyable, fun, and thrilling!

You can guess that as soon as I got access to The Elder Scrolls Online beta this summer, I wanted to try a healer. Just by reading class and skill lines descriptions, several concept of non traditional healing builds poped in my head, and I had to try them out.

The first idea was of course to create a melee healer. In so many game I've dreamed about that archetype, and never been able to enjoy it properly (before try out Medic in Wildstar, but that's a story for another time). So I started with a very cute Dark Elf Templar, using a destruction staff and two daggers. While it was fun to start with, my first healing experience had been a total fiasco. I didn't had enough mana to sustain my group. I had the feeling my heals were weak, and I was suggested to use a Restoration Staff in addition of my Templar spells, which I though make no sense, as a Templar is supposed to heal with other weapons.

My second character was a Dragonknight healer. I advanced in the Earthen Skill lines, which provide an amazing spell to start with that can stunlock your target. It was extremly fun to use, and I had no issue during the leveling. The seond and thrid skill in the Earthen skill line, also provide a crit buff, and a earth shield that can be morfed to beneficiate the whole group. I found the dragonknight, in theory, a very good protecting healer.
My first Dungeon happened very nicely. I had difficulties to preserve my magika, but I discovered soon that I was wasting my spells, and had to focus more on using the Restoration Staff heavy attack wich heals thanks to the first passive.
I tried this concept for several test as I enjoyed it a lot. During the PVP week end, while Shoddycast and Entropy Rising guys experimented the Chalamo, I was enjoying intensively a hybrid build 75% magika, 25% stamina. I had a bow as first weapon and the restoration staff as second coupled with several skills from the PVP defensive skill line. It was extremly fun in skirmishes, sneaking on bridges and then trow my Earthen Fist to mounted ennemies, to see them fall from their horse, snare and poison them with arrows, and finish them before they could reach me. For someone that usually get her little butt kicked in PVP, this was extremly fun!
I also tried another version of this Dragonknight, full magika, and light armour. I ad the feeling however that my Earthen buff weren't as usefull as I was hoping they would, simply because they were a lot of Dragonknight playing with me, and providing those buffs already. I also had a lot of troubles to manage my magika, but that may be due everyone playing with high level template character and not really knowing what we were doing. Ressources were wasted and it was a pain to keep everyone alive.

Later I tried Nightblade healer twice, but never managed to level them past level 10. I didn't really enjoyed the leveling with this build, so I dubt that I'd ever create a Nightblade. I saw them in action, though, wile tanking and the concept of using Siphoning spells and healing seems to work very nicely!

My first experience as healer in The Elder Scrolls was surprinsingly difficult. But I soon realised that healing simply need some practise and a good understanding of how the spells are working to not waste ressources. With a strategic positioning and keeping your party mates aware that they can not run in every directions if they hope to be healed, a healer should not have so much problems to keep its group alive. It's certainly disconcerting at first, as ESO heal doesn't look like any other healing in any other MMO I've played so far. It's not like World of Warcraft and the likes, but it's not at all like Tera Online and it's not like Wildstar either. If I need to compare, I'd say it feel like GW2 could have been if there was a trinity including healers. This, because in addition of area of effect heal of various form, there is plenty of smart heal, and passive heal that leave you little control, which is kinda disturbing.

In the end I decided to focus on tanking in The Elder Scrolls Online. While I enjoyed my experience as healer and are interested to overcome the challenge, I have a lot of pleasure to charge, shield bash, and fight in melee. I usually dislike being in melee, but due to the body collision, action combat, I find it very excitting and thrilling. I've planed to make a Templar caster-healer as second character however.

[Community Talk] Ready for Launch?

Hello everyone!

It's a long time I've not published a community talk. In less than one week, The Elder Scrolls Online open its door for all early access! The wait is soon over!

During this long period of waiting, I've tried to devellop the Anook ESO page, and build a strong, dynamic and active community. I've tried to invite interesting personalities in the ESO community that would be able to contribute with their knowledge and experience of the game: I'm very glad that some of them answered my invitation!

I've created a Nook for the use of all: ESOTheoricrafting. I hope it to become a reference on Anook to help players to think their build, choose a class, and pick up the most adapted weapon for their gamestyle. As I'm only an average theoricrafter myself that hates math and addons *wink* I really hope to see players such as @Tholren @Nybling or others sharing their insight and experience.
There is a blog attached to this Nook: my goal is to see experimented players share their knowledge via this Blog by writting insightful articles. If you want to become a blogger, please tell me, so I can give you the admin rights that will allow you to post.
I've started to share interesting videos posted by players that could be usefull, such as the Overcharging serie made by @Nybling If you have a video that speak about classes, build, skill line, itemisations... do not hesitate to share it on the Nook: it will appear on the Nook wall, and be archieved in the Nook videos.

I've also created an album for each Alliance Nook dedicated to Landscapes. Anyone can contribute and upload their own screenshots: I ask you to exclusively add Landscape screenshots without Interface. My goal is to build a large library of image illustrating the wonderfull world of Tamriel. And then share it on Reddit to promote Anook there.
Some of our members, like @LunaDra have already contributed with wonderful images, and I'm hoping some new members like @Elridge or MikaB to add their own screenies to the collection! To add your screenshot to the collection, it's very simple:

  • If your screenshot had already been uploaded, you can edit the image, and add an album: Just type the name of the Alliance, and the right album will be selected for you.
  • If you have not uploaded your screenie yet, just click on the album you want to add your screenshot, and upload it from there.

I'd like to thank @spartanjesters @ZiggsTV and @Trekker-Crew for their active promotion of Anook while streaming or publishing videos. It's that way we will see our community grow and become more and nore dynamic, for the benefice of everyone here! The more the merrier, right!

I'd like also to welcome a guild that have recently joined Anook and have created their Nook here Debaucherous Tea Party "a casual ESO guild focusing on fun and an easy going attitude" They are mainly Ebonheart and play on the NA megaserver

Let's not forget several other guilds that are active on Anook:

[TESO Talk] Greetings from Daggerfall

Poeple criticising The Elder Scrolls Online graphism are obviously not knowing what they are talking about. It might not be as beautiful as a modded Skyrim, and we may have seen better looking characters in a game like Tera Online. True. However, the beauty of The Elder Scrolls Online is ...mesmerising.Anyone denying it is not objective.
The lightning effect ; the weather changes ; the smallest details, may it be a ragged tapestry in a house, or the variety of vegetation bording the road ; the atmospheric sound and the music itself ; the NPC populating countrysides and cities, buzy with their own lifes ; everything is created to render the most immersive world you can experience in a MMORPG.

When I play The Elder Scrolls Online, I'm not sitting in front of my computer anymore. I'm travelling in Tamriel. I smell the perfume of the earth after the rain. I feel the warmth of the sunrays and the freshness of the breeze on my skin. I'm gone, far away, and exploring this universe become my main quest.

I wanted to share those feelings with the future players. Most of videos you will find on internet at this day, will show you how to PVP, build your character, how the combat is working, or how to use that and that item. I wanted to show you how beautiful this game is and how amazing it will be to simply walk arround, enjoy the landscapes, and let yourself dream that you are really there.

I choose to start this serie with Daggerfall, as it's the least popular faction. Maybe this video will arrise more interest for the Covenant. I was, like everyone else, not really tempted by the King Emeric alliance before to actually experiment it. Since I've played through, I realised how beautiful and peacefull this zone was. Daggerfall is a classical high fantasy themed landscape with strong influence in celtic legends and atmosphere. The weather changes very often, from bright and sunny days, to a soft rain, or thunderstorms. This drastically change the mood and add an amazing feel of immersion.

I tried to capture those changes of feels as good as I could. I hope you will enjoy the calm and peacefulness of this video. I had an immense pleasure to record it and edit it.

A new trend - The UGLY BOSMER

Hello everyone!

A new trend had just been unvoluntary started by @Nybling when he created his video CREATING THE UGLY BOSMER

So let's play the game and let's invade Youtube with tons of #UglyBosmer videos:
Waiting to see all of your video, guys. I'll make a compilation on Anook in a month or so!

What do you think about my Ugly Bosmer so far? Which one between Nybling and mine is the most ugly?

[TESO Talk] All Races Dances - How I choose the music

I had so much fun to edit this video! Honnestly, it's the one video I enjoyed the most to work on! Of course it was a lot of work, because I had to record 18 characters dancing. They had to be relatively good looking, typicall of their races and well placed. I had to redo it several time, cause something happened wrongly.

But the most challenging part was to find a music that would fit and would be free of rights. Wich is why I choose traditional music that belongs to everyone. Most of the music you heard come from life performance from unspecified bands or events.

Sometimes the logical cultural choice was not fitting the dance at all. Sometimes the male and female were dancing on different rythm wich make harder to find a fitting music. For example, I searched for the Argonians music from South America, or drums...but it wasn't working at all. For the Dunmer I tried to find some chineese flute music, as the male was doing movement looking like Tai-chi Chuan. But then again, it was not fitting at all. I'm very happy about the alternative I found though! Especially the Argonian. I've been unfortunate enough though to find an Irish song for the Nord that wasn't a real traditional folk music, but an original composition from a group. My goal is certainly not to steal the work of others, so I decided to put down this first version by myself, even if I didn't had the "Youtube copyright warning".

I really love world music. Even if I'm not usually listening to this style, this is the kind of music that deeply inspire me joy. It's like a free travel to other places!

So guys, what do you think about my choices? Are you able to recognise from wich country come all those musics? Do you find I choose well? Tell me what you think!

[TESO Talk] All Racial Armor Preview

Want to know what badass armour your future hero could wear or craft in Tamriel this 4 april 2014? Watch the video, and pick up your favourite!

While I'm a bit surprised by the silhouette used for a 2014 game, which give the armour a rigid style, I'm very enthousiastic about the style and the racial flavour each armours have. Each race model really fit the Lore, and give something extra that make you want to go for this races instead of that one.
I really love when races in a game have different armour style. This is somthing that had been explored very well in games such as Tera Online and Guild Wars2.

Personally, I LOVE the Khajiit armour, and the Argonians ones. The Khajiit shield is so cool that it's one of the deciding argument for me to roll a Khajiit instead of a Altmer as I was firstly considering.
Yeeees, I know you can craft all armour if your learn them, but still...A Khajiit armour would be sort of not as cool on a long, thin and eleguant Altmer.

And you? What's your favourite?

[TESO Talk] Know your Game

Success is a two face medals: it attract as much praise than criticizm, admiration than jealousy, and in the case of a MMO about to be released, as much hype than hatred.
The Elder Scrolls Online is expected to be the greatest success of the year, or the most humiliating fail. Either one or the other simply due to the huge expectations of the public. It seems that ESO does not have the right of simply being itself.

When someone expected the moon, even if he recieves the most gorgeous diamond, he will still feel disapointement and sometimes bitterness or anger. I'm affraid the expectations of the players are too huge when it comes to ESO, and that they will feel disapointed no matter of how wonderful the game could be. This would be very sad considering the effort and the passion (and the money!) the devellopers are putting in their game, and the potential that such a title carry.

The era where only few games shine is long gone. Today, gamers have a plethora of games to choose from. None are perfect, but most of them are pretty good in their own style. Before to get overhelmed by hype, too much enthousiasm, selling our soul to a game, and then feeling betrayed when the game doesn't reach our expectations, I believe it's good to take the time to annalyse and understand what game we are going to play. Not every game fit every gamer. Not every gamer fit every game. Not every game fit every mood. Know your game and know yourself before to be feel betrayed.

When it comes to ESO, remember that it's a Elder Scrolls game online, and not another generic MMO.
If you expect e-sport kind of PVP, with arena and rating, stick with World of Warcraft, Guild Wars 2 or some MOBA. You will not find that sort of competition in ESO. However, you can experiment wild PVP following a three factions war model. It's not worse or better. It's just different.
If you trive for world first boss kills, and the congratulations of the community, I guess that WOW and Rift are still better. Or wait for Wildstar to be released. Or whatever game that offers nice raids. ESO will have dungeons and challenging group content, but let's face it : you don't play ESO for raiding, right?
If you are looking for something revolutionary that will change the face of the genre for ever, I suppose you will have to wait for something else. Maybe EverQuestNext would answer those wishes. ESO is different but its ambition is not to re-create a new sort of MMORPG.
If you expect to find a sandbox game, where the open world leave you free and wild to do whatever you want, you may be disapointed. ESO is a game that offers a lot of freedom, customisation, an immense world to explore, and it probably has sandbox elements but it stay a game strongly lead by a story. Wait for Archage if you want pure Sandbox.
If you want action combat with body collision, try TeraOnline. ESO action combat is promised to be dynamic and exiting but it might feel less physical than a game such as Tera. If you want realism, puzzle and clues, check TheSecretWorld. ESO will certainly have quest that requiere you to think, but it will certainly not have the depth of TSW investigation quest.
And lastely, if you expect to live the very same experience than when you were playing Morrowind, Oblivion or Skyrim, you may also be disapointed. ESO will offer you a great immersion and the Tamriel feel you can expect from a Elder Scrolls game,'s not a solo RPG, and therefor it has limitations.

If you keep this in mind, and respect the game for what it is, and not hoping it to be something else, then your expectations will be more rightfull, more reasonable, and you will experiment The Elder Scrolls Online as you should. If you are disapointed then atleast you can be comforted to know that you have not been dreaming of the impossible game. You will also give a great service to the community of Elder Scrolls fans by not claiming and demanding to the devellopers ireasonable features that would betray their vision, and would ruin the game for other players. Maybe ESO is not the game for you. Then, just leave it be, and focus on the games that fit your style! will simply fall in love.

I'm conscious that this article has a weird perspective. Instead of fueling the hype, I'm carefully estinguishing it. I'm convinced that The Elder Scrolls Online is a great game that I'll enjoy with passion. But I also know that it's a game. Not the messie. It will be unperfect. And I'm very fine with that.

[Stream] Skyrim Weekly Show #Episode5 #Episode6

Hello everyone!

I've been very lazy this week with this post! I apologies! But I did many other things on the side, like a blog post for Wildstar and some work for both of my guilds. Better later than never, right! ;)
As you may know, last week I've streamed two days in a row. So we had a bit more adventure and progress to share!

Elloa, Kharjo and the dog Meeko have recently arrived in Markrath where many things seem to happen. Murder, conspirations, plots! While trying to help a young guy to solve the murder of a woman on the market place, Elloa is caught in a spirale that will lead her in prison! YES! In the most secure Skyrim prison: the Silvermine.
Along her sojourn in the ancient dwarven city, Elloa started to dislike the merciless Nords, and started to sympatise with the Frostworn. Also, when the King-in-Rag explained her what happened in the city and how his people had been chased away from their own land in the war, she choose to help him and join his cause. Together, they will get free, take over the city in blood and thunder and run away.

Instead of joining Delphine and Esbern that are awaiting for her not very far from the city, Elloa decide to take a carriage back to Winterhold. To put some stuff in order and take some small vacation maybe. Anyway, on the way back, she decides to give back the Asura Star she found on another adventure to the Asura's priest. Asura herself talk to her and demand her to clean the artefact that's soiled by the soul of a malavolant sorcerer.

Video: Skyrim - Struggle in Asura Star

As she is riding to the West, she is getting attacked by several dragons. She even saw, from her own eyes, a very ancient and powerful Dragon resurecting dead dragon from their graves.
She understand therefor, how her quest can't be delayed anymore.

This is how we ended the second stream last week. Next time, we will continue the main Story. Hope to see you then!

Take care everyone!

[Stream] Skyrim Wednesday Show #Episode5

Hello everyone!

I've a great new to share! Well, great new for me, but I hope you will enjoy it aswell! I'll host two Skyrim Weekly Show in future.
At the moment, Skyrim is the game I prefer the most and I'm having most fun in. Every wednesday I'm having lots of fun sharing this with you guys and all I want is to go back to Tamriel. So I decided that two weekly show might be a good idea. Hope you will follow me! If you have any preference between Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, let me know.

We didn't had any dragon fight in the Episode #4. So this time, we started with a huge Dragon figth a bit outside Falkreath. I must confess that I was stressed and struggling. But it was also very fun! Died a lot. Also, I was stupid enough to believe that the dragon was immune to fire and Frost (it happen sometimes)....Once I started to use my FrostBold, the Dragon started to properly lose life!

Video - Elder Dragons are not easy!

After this epic battle, Kharjo, Meeko, the dog, and I went on our way to do some quests in the area. At some point, we discovered a very old ruin infested by Reachman. It was a really gorgeous place, like a Dungeon wide open.
I also bought my first terrain to build my house. This will need me to dig a bit of informations to start the crafting properly. At the moment, I've some issues with my always full inventory.
We ended the night with a second battle against an Elder Dragon in the surrounding of Markarth. This is where we will start our next episode, tomorow! Hope to see you there!!

[Stream] Skyrim Wednesday Show #Episode4

Hello everyone!

How comfortable it was to stream with a nice neat grafic card that wasn't bugging the game and allowed me to smoothly play with good addons and high FPS! How pleasant it was to not have to alt tab to defreeze the game, to be able to read the books, and have no problem to zone in and out dungeons and inns!

The adventure started in Riften. Elloa and Kharjo the Khajiit were to research a old man in the sewers, a place where many briguands and other unpleasant persons are gathered. Good for us, I had previously cleared the sewers along my first visit of Riften when I had been caught prisoner. We easily found Esbern, fred him, and burned alive all Thalmors we found on our way.
Our goal was to reach Riverwood together. Me, Kharjo and Esbern, my dog and my horse. A joyfull little company! I can tell you that sometimes it's not so easy to keep an eye on everyone!
We passed by some old Dragon Temple ruins that I decided to explore. Ended to learned another Dragon shoot. Video: Animal, animal, allegiance!

We passed by some briguand Stronghold that we cleared. And we continued our journey to Riverwood.
Video: What pitiful bandits, seriously!

No dragon of the week... One appeared in the sky, roared fiercely, got me on my guard, nervous and ready, but the damn beast decided that this week...there would be no dragon. So sorry guys!

Next episode, we will start at Falkreath. We might do some adventures in the area, or to head immediately for Markarth. I've tons of quest to do that are a bit there and there.
Those that followed the stream last week will be happy to learn that I found my dog back. it was just a "bug" of the game that sometimes make your companion desepear. A fast travel is debugging them.

If you want to see the full stream, you can watch the replay on Twich TV: here

[Stream] Skyrim Wednesday Show #Episode3

Hello everyone!

This is now confirmed! Itw as my very last Skyrim show with so much lag and grafic issues! From now, in the future , I shouldn't have any problem anymore. This week many change happened in the life of my character Elloa, the archmage of Winterhold.

While traveling to Riften to pursue the investigation concerning the coming back of the Dragon, Brelyna and Elloa were attacked on the road by another dragon. Again, indeed! They fought bravely, and discovered they were helped by no one else than the Kajiit caravan met the other day.
This time, Elloa asked Brelyna to go back to the College of Winterhold, to travel alone with this mysterious khajiit that had made such huge impression on her.

Video: Nooooo, a dragon (BIS)

Later, Elloa will regret to have sent away her best friend, as she will discover that Kharjo, the Khajiit is kinda ..slacking behind, instead of fighting fiercly as expected.
After several adventures, Elloa, her Kajiit and her dog finally arrive in Riften. Another unexpected event will lead Elloa to meet Frost, a new companion.

Video: I got a dog, a horse and a Khajiit

Do not miss the next episode of Skyrim Wednesday Show, tomorow at 21h CET (03pm EST). I hope to see many of you following my adventures! It's a lot more fun to do it in nice company! :)

[Stream] Skyrim Wednesday Show #Episode2

Hello everyone!
I'm very sorry to post this so late, but i really didn't had the time to do it before. Many of you would easily guess why I've been buzy pretty much the whole weekend! *wink*
This second episode was very fun! Many adventures and failures, and I was lucky enough to have a great company in the stream chat!
Anyway, without further ado, let summarise the second show of my weekly serie, focusing this time on the main story. (You will realise fast, that with me, we never stay focused on anything for long)

Elloa was in Solitude to meet Delphine, and get her intructions to start an important operation in the Thalmor Embassy. Their discussion had been interupted by loud roar from the sky!

Video: Nooooo a Dragon! Go away!

Later, Elloa left her friends to go alone in the Thalmor Embassy, where she was to investigate with discretion and carefulness, and obtain the proof that the Thalmor was at the origin of the Dragons return.

Video: Scene at the Thalmor Embassy

Discretion is definitively not Elloa's strenght. The Embassy burned well, and Elloa barely escaped, leaving dead allies behind her. The files weren't proving anything, but some clues led Elloa to Riften. Her journey was interupted however by the meeting of a Kajiit caravan. One of the caravan guard had lost an artefact, and Elloa imediatly proposed her help to find it. Why losing time helping a mere Kajiit, while we are buzy with Dragons and the end of the world must have wonder Brelyna. Heh! Elloa has her secrets too. Maybe those will be revealed in her diary someday....when I find the time to write it!

You are obviously welcome to watch the full stream on my Twich channel. It will hopefully be saved for sometimes.

Part 1
Part 2

See you tomorow, for some new adventures!

[Stream] Skyrim Wednesday Show #Episode1

Hello everyone!

Yesterday I hosted my first Skyrim Wednesday Show on my TwichTV channel. This is something I intent to do every wednesday, at least until the release of The Elder Scrolls Online.
I hope the viewers enjoyed it, despise the few technical issues that I encountered. My computer seems to refuse to let me read books while I stream! Other than that, it went pretty fine and I streamed my adventures in Tamriel for almost 3 hours.
So what happened yesterday?

Elloa, the new archemage of Winterhold, and her old classmate and adventure budy Brelyna were on their way to Solitude. On the side of the road, they had discovered some Dwemer ruins, and couldn't resist the temptation to explore the place. After several adventures in the deepth of the dwarven ruins, the two elves stopped by Dawnstar, visited the museum and sold some potion to the village alchemist.
Later, in the darkness of the nordic night, Elloa and Brelyna made an unexpected meeting on the road.

Want to see this in image? Check the videos below! It's short ones!

I know many Streamers upload their streams on Youtube, but I don't find this very interesting, as the main purpose of a Stream is to interact with viewers. Unless I got viewers asking for it, I do not intent to upload my weekly show on Youtube. However, you can check the broadcast directly on my TwichTV channel if you like. It should stay saved for a while.

Hope to see you next Wednesday for more adventures in Tamriel!
