Blaugust is a public nook on Anook. Sign up to join this nook or create your own public community or private hideout for your blog, forum, guild or anything else you like.
5 days in, some of you may or may not feel the first blaugust draught incoming. there's a great summary with writing prompts for the whole month over here: http://www.anook.com/topic/5789
How about also receiving your very personalized topic / writing prompt from another blogger AND getting a chance to ask a fellow blogger a question they'll definitely blog about? Then this topic is the place!
How it works
The rules of Blaugust AMA are simple:
- ask an open & interesting gaming-related question to the blogger above you in this thread! (a more offtopic question is okay too as long as it's not too personal)
- answer the writing prompt received by the next poster below you and link to their blog in your post! - there's no set timeline for posts as long as they're published during blaugust.
Join for some merry give&take and a chance to have someone else write about something that interests you!
Questions should be genuine topic suggestions any of us will manage to answer and blog about. You may not want to use this thread for your daily blogging inspirations - let others have a go but by all means participate more than once if the thread goes quiet (nobody likes to be last!). :)
I guess in the interest of getting this rolling, I'll serve as the first victim so......ask away! ;)
This is a sideways spawned topic from something that came up on Twitter today. Gaming is treated vastly differently depending upon the culture you live in. What are the cultural norms around gaming for you, and how is it generally thought of in your country? Now saying this... I am pretty sure Syl is going to just link me a post she wrote three years ago :P
For a lot of people, starting off in MMORPGs changed the way they viewed and interacted with video games. I often defer single player games in favor of online games now due to the fact that games with other people are... or at least seem... more interesting, even when I am playing them solo. Did starting off with MMORGPs change your relationship with video games?
I was holding off on replying so as to not victimise you further, but it seems you're intimidating everyone. ;)
Do you approach your games with a view to posting about them, or is posting a natural result of playing those games?
Do you feel as though MMOs have lost their way over time? Or are you excited for the future and the unique ideas that it brings?
How do you think we'll be talking about MMOs ten years from now? Will they still be regarded as a distinct genre, or do you foresee them having been absorbed into a broader spectrum of game types?
What game has spoiled you for other games? In other words, what's the one (or two) games that you have severe nostalgia for that color your outlook on other similar (or dissimilar) games? Could be MMO, console, PC, RPG, etc.
I don't see a lot of blogs devoted to Call of Duty and other single-player games. Do you think the social aspect of MMORPGS spills over into the blogosphere more than for SPGs? Or is there some other factor? Or is it simply the circles we run in?
When it comes to RPG's and MMO's, do you have a specific play-style in mind when you see it? Does that ever change after you play around in the game space?
What MMO is free, but you would subscribe to it if it wasn't and why? What subscription MMO would you play if it was free and why?
Has gaming had a negative impact upon your health? Or has it had the opposite effect?
Where do you think the MMO genre is heading in the next 5 years? The next 10? Beyond that?
What is the longest non-stop gaming session you've ever had (including breaks for food/bathroom) ?
If you could work for a company that creates video games as their largest form of income, which company would you choose and why?
How many games could a game chuck play, if a game chuck could play games?
Just kidding. If we were in some parallel Marvel like universe where a mutant game spider bit you, what game would the spider of come from and what power would it of given you? That could be a single power, or an entire class line of abilities, the choice is yours.
