ESO - Templar Shield Maiden - Elloa'sDiary Week28

I was tired to see everyone with a Staff, so I decided that I'd explore new possibilities for my Templar healer/caster. Struggling a bit, but will get there... or not!

Since you're playing at melee range more often than not with this, you're probably going to need a little bit of a gearing change to help turn the build in your favor. I am guessing you're running all light armor? Try trading out two pieces to heavy (ideally chest and legs for the most defense) and getting a few of the heavy passives, and really work on getting the 1h/shield skill line leveled up so you can take advantage of those passives as well.

You might also talk to @Deltia, I got the 2heavy/rest light idea from him and it's worked for me, and he has a great ability of putting together skill combinations that can really shine, he might be able to help hone your skill sets to achieve your vision with a little less struggle.

Hey thanks for the shout out. Two hander will be awesome after 1.5 and bow is already amazing. For healing, you just can't get away from magicka. DPS however.....

Hey guys! (I didn't realise you were on Anook @Deltia super cool!) Mmh I'll see what i'll do. I've watch several video of Deltia, among those one with a 2hander Templar soloing some Anomalies wich seemed very fun, but I do not want to go that route. I really want to stay a Caster/Healer before everything and I want a maximum of Magika possible. So far I'm not using a single Shield ability. Maybe I'll change that in future though. There is many things I can explore. But before everything I think I need to redo my gear. I'm still with some lvl 38 - 44 pieces of gear I guess a upgrade would not be luxury. I'm considering trying another set than usual. We will see :D

I don't know ANYTHING about the healer line Templars have but I don't see why you can't use only it while having a sword/board equipped for stats and using only magicka based skills... I am just thinking adding some defense by way of passives is going to help a lot, which would require leveling up swordboard and some heavy armor.

The Restoration skill line by opposition to the Resto staff is costly in Magika. The Shield+Sword is more a choice than an obligation. I'm not really interested into trying another weapon, cause I will not use their abilities anyway. I though that the shield was most interesting mainly because of the bash... And Also cause a Khajiit Moon Shield is soooo nice :D

From a pure skill perspective yeah it doesn't matter which melee weapons you're using, but have a look at the passives that come from the 1h and shield line, some of those passives will help YOU stay alive.

One of the problems with your melee game is that it doesn't look like you've taken Puncturing Strikes in the Aedric Spear line, and morphed it into the version that heals you. Doing that will turn melee-range into something akin to easy mode. That might help you with Sword & Shield (and, it's not bad with Staff.)
